GET OUT writer-director Jordan Peele's high-profile THE TWILIGHT ZONE revival on CBS All-Access will be debuting its premiere episodes on April Fool's Day (or will it?). And today we have word that the series has snagged two new stars in the form of DEADPOOL 2's Zazie Beetz and GET OUT's Betty Gabriel. There isn't currently word on just what their roles will be in the show, but we do know that the will appear in an early episode…
So that's something.
In addition to her role as the lucky-as-hell Domino alongside Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin in David Leitch's DEADPOOL 2, Beetz just wrapped production on THE HANGOVER writer-director Todd Phillips' JOKER origin tale co-starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, and Marc Maron. Meanwhile, Gabriel may be best known for her role in Peele's breakout Blumhouse horror-thriller GET OUT. But she has also had notable roles in other Blumhouse genre efforts such as writer-director James DeMonaco's THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR, Leigh Whannell's UPGRADE co-starring Logan Marshall-Green, and Stephen Susco's found footage follow-up UNFRIENDED: DARK WEB.
Jordan Peele hosts this revival series, which will follow the original’s template of serving up sci-fi, horror, and fantasy, often with poetic justice on the side and a twist ending for dessert. While the series doesn't currently have a synopsis (not that one is really needed) we do know that there will be an episode called "Last Shuttle" that has a vague synopsis:
a group of astronauts dealing with a crisis.
Most details on these episodes have been kept under wraps, but here's what we do know: Beetz and Gabriel join a cast that currently includes the likes of Seth Rogen in an episode written by Alex Rubens, Sanaa Lathan is in an episode titled Rewind, Adam Scott stars in Nightmare at 30,000 Feet, a remake of the classic Twilight Zone story Nightmare at 20,000 Feet; Jacob Tremblay, Erica Tremblay, John Cho, and Allison Tolman are in an episode called The Wunderkind, about a child President. In addition to that, Steven Yeun and Greg Kinnear star in an episode called The Traveler, which is about two cops and a mysterious traveler (Yeun being the traveler in question); and Kumail Nanjiani is in an unspecified episode. DeWanda Wise, Jessica Williams, Lucinda Dryzek, Jefferson White, and Jonathan Whitesell make up the cast of another unspecified episode, and yet another episode stars Taissa Farmiga, Rhea Seehorn, Luke Kirby, Ike Barinholtz, and Percy Hynes-White.
THE TWILIGHT ZONE is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films. Peele and Kinberg serve as executive producers along with Win Rosenfeld, Audrey Chon, Glen Morgan, Carol Serling, Rick Berg, and Greg Yaitanes. The first two episodes will be released on April 1st. Another episode will follow every Thursday beginning April 11. If that's just too long for you to wait for more tales of the strange and unbelievable, then you can head on over to CBS All Access tonight and stream every episode of the original series.
