Fresh off of his Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in Minari, Steven Yeun is set to join the cast of a very high-profile project as Deadline has reported that the actor is currently in negotiations to join Jordan Peele's new horror film.
The deal hasn't been closed yet, but if it does, Steven Yeun will join Keke Palmer (Hustlers) in the project. Daniel Kaluuya, who starred in Jordan Peele's Get Out, is also in negotiations to join the film as well. Very little is known about the film, only that Peele will be writing and directing and that Universal Pictures will release the film on July 22, 2022.
Lee Isaac Chung's Miniri follows a Korean American family as they move to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American dream. Amidst the challenges of this new life in the strange and rugged Ozarks, they discover the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home. In addition to the Best Actor nomination for Yeun, the film has also snagged nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Score. In addition to the Jordan Peele project, it was also revealed last month that Steven Yeun is set to star in an untitled ten-episode dramedy series for A24 and Netflix alongside Ali Wong. Not much is known about the project, but it has attracted a lot of attention. Yeun has also lent his voice to Amazon's animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman's Invincible, which launched on the streaming service last week.
