Jordan Peele, or as I like to call him, "the Swiss Army Knife of Talent" is a hot commodity in Hollywood, these days. His debut directorial effort for the pulse-pounding and eye-opening thriller GET OUT has earned a total of $194.5 million to date worldwide, making him the subject of a lot of positive buzz in regard to up-and-comers in the movie making biz.
Today, it's been announced that Peele has inked a first-look production deal with Universal Pictures courtesy of his Monkeypaw Productions label. As per the deal, Universal will develop Peele's next film project, said to be an original untitled social thriller, which Jordan will be write, produce, and direct. Furthermore, Peele will also produce a wide array of films for Universal through his Monkeypaw Productions, including a series of small-budgeted projects that will include Peele partnering with Jason Blum, just like he did for GET OUT.
You've got to admit, Jordan Peele is on fire, these days. I regret not having seen GET OUT when it was in theaters, but will do my best to view it as soon as it hits the home market. Between my new job, a move to Canada, and a comic book podcast to run, I've had very little time to make it to the movies. Cheers to Jordan Peele, though. I hope his upcoming projects do just as well for him, if not better, than the tremendous success he's experienced with GET OUT.
GET OUT is scheduled for a May 23, 2017 release on Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
