When Vince Gilligan announced that he would be following up Breaking Bad with Better Call Saul, a prequel focusing on Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), I thought it was a terrible idea. Never have I been more pleased to have been proven wrong. Now, with EL CAMINO: A BREAKING BAD MOVIE on the way, I find myself struggling with those same feelings. How could any sort of follow-up to Breaking Bad capture that same magic? If Better Call Saul taught me anything, it's to give Gilligan the benefit of the doubt.
The upcoming film will be centered around Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) in the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity in the series finale of Breaking Bad, and follow the former meth-cook as he realizes that he must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future. We already know that several Breaking Bad characters will be appearing in the film, such as Skinny Pete (Charles Baker) and Badger (Matt Jones), but Vince Gilligan has teased that more than 10 familiar characters from the show will be featured. Thanks to ET Canada's red-carpet interview with Jonathan Banks at the Emmy Awards, we now know that Mike Ehrmantraut will be making an appearance in EL CAMINO as well.
Yes. They’ll hit me in the head for saying this, but yes. Why not? None of those guys hit very hard anyway.
Now, fans of Breaking Bad know that Mike Ehrmantraut didn't make it out of the series alive, meaning that his appearance in EL CAMINO: A BREAKING BAD MOVIE will either be a form of a flashback, a dream sequence, or something of that nature. This greatly opens up the possibility for those other Breaking Bad characters featured in the film, as it could be just about anyone. I'm pumped, bitch!
EL CAMINO: A BREAKING BAD MOVIE will hit Netflix on October 11, 2019, but it will also screen in select theaters as well.
