Jon Watts reveals which Spider-Man villain he would love to include next

**Spoilers for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME**

Spider-Man has quite the gallery of villains to choose from when setting out to make any new movie, to the point where the filmmakers could wear a blindfold, turn off their Peter Tingles, throw a dart, and hit one worthy foe. Now with characters like Mysterio and Vulture scratched off the list (at least for now, for the latter), the question is who will the baddie be for the inevitable next outing, and though it’s all up on the air director Jon Watts knows who he would pick if it was all up to him: Kraven the Hunter.

Watts was speaking with Uproxx recently to talk about the future of Spidey (Tom Holland), which is wide open now given that during the credits scene one J. Jonah Jameson showed a video of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) revealing his identity to the world. While that scene may have been overshadowed by the triumphant, crowd-cheering return of J.K. Simmons as Jameson, the information is earth-shattering for the character. The villains will be coming after him now, and though Watts has no idea what comes next (*wink wink*) he does think Kraven would be the guy to take on Spidey – if Watts had his own way, of course.

“Oh, I would love Kraven. It’s just the trick of how do you do Kraven in a movie?” Watts said.

Earlier in the interview, he reiterated a point he made to CinemaBlend in an interview that came out last week in which he talked about wanting to bring out villains who haven’t been seen in past movies before. He mentioned how in this movie how he got to use Molten Man and Hydro Man in FAR FROM HOME, even if they were called the Elementals. As for the next villain, it will be a while before we know who they are, but Watts says the idea is to “think about it in terms of what’s going to be the most difficult thing for Peter. So that’s going to be the next trick.”

Kraven may not have the fantastical flashes of characters like Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and others, but he’s no doubt a deadly foe for Spider-Man. One of the most famous Spider-Man storylines in the comics is “Kraven’s Last Hunt” which finds the villain defeating Spider-Man and then wearing his costume, all to go around and prove he’s the better guardian for the city. Though that exact storyline itself may be a bit too dark for the MCU audiences, the idea of Kraven hunting down Spider-Man now that he (and everyone else) knows his identity, feeling himself a better champion for the city, could be perfect given how FAR FROM HOME ended.

SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME is in theaters now.
