Jon Hamm will star in High Wire Act for director Brad Anderson

With Mad Men coming to a close, you might be wondering what Jon Hamm may have next on the docket. Aside from the Netflix prequel show to WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER, the man has just signed on to star in the new Brad Anderson (TRANSSIBERIAN, THE MACHINIST) film scripted by Tony Gilroy (THE BOURNE LEGACY, STATE OF PLAY). The film, HIGH WIRE ACT, will be set in 1980's Beirut. Jon Hamm will play a former U.S. diplomat who is called back into service to save a former colleague from the group possibly responsible for his own family's death.

Writer Tony Gilroy had this to say:

I'm thrilled the way the project's come together. Jon Hamm was made to play the part. I’ve been trying to work with Brad Anderson from the moment I saw TRANSSIBERIAN and every conversation we have confirms my confidence. I can't wait to see a script that means so much to me get up and running.

Brad Anderson totally won me over with SESSION 9 and THE MACHINIST, and has yet to do a follow-up that's pulled me in as much as those two. Him teaming up with Jon Hamm has me all kinds of excited, as Hamm has been killing it for years now, and the dude deserves a fruitful film career. We've heard that Hamm has turned down some comic book roles in the past but I'm curious to see if he changes his tune now that he's done with AMC.

HIGH WIRE ACT will most likely see a release sometime in 2016.

I certainly wouldn't mind Jon Hamm popping up in more comedies!
