While it's been confirmed Joker will appear in Fox's Gotham, we don't know how the character will be used or introduced in the upcoming television series. After Jon Beavers was cast as a stand-up comedian in the pilot, many fans immediately began to speculate he might be the future Joker.
However, Bleeding Cool has heard there will likely be a Joker tease in each episode of the first season, with different actors playing characters who could potential be the Clown Prince of Crime.
Basically, every episode in the first season will introduce a character that might be a future Joker, each emphasizing aspects of the character’s iconography, a card sharp, a flower seller, a clown, or just a guy with a very big grin. All relatively unknown actors. All potentially a Joker. But only one of them being the actual Clown Prince Of Crime.
If true, I think it's an interesting way to use the character, and I think it could work for the show. Is this a good idea, or do you think weekly Joker teases will be too much?
In addition to this Joker rumor, a new TV spot has been released for Gotham as well. While Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon walks on to a crime scene in the latest spot, you get a glimpse at most of the major players, and it uses the "The Good. The Evil. The Beginning." tagline that also appeared on last month's character posters for Fox's new series. The pilot will debut at this year's San Diego Comic Con, so there should be more details on Gotham coming in the near future.
"Someone needs to take a stand against it all — and that is where we come in."
Gotham is scheduled to premiere on Fox on September 22, 2014.
