Joker 2 teaser: Lady Gaga confirms her role as Harley Quinn with a new video

Lace up your dancing shoes and grab yourself a partner because Lady Gaga is out here sharing a Joker 2 teaser that will have you swaying to swinging sounds. Set to the Fred Astaire classic “Cheek to Cheek,” the Joker 2 teaser features Joker and Harley Quinn silhouettes dressed in era-appropriate finery while cutting a rug. After the couple swivels to the old-timey tune, a joyous laugh is heard as the film’s title and release date flash on the screen.

In addition to the Joker 2 teaser, the first story details for Joker: Folie À Deux have reportedly surfaced. According to an insider with knowledge about the sequel, a sizeable portion of the film will take place inside Arkham Asylum. While this sounds like a no-brainer, it’s exciting to think that a part of the film takes place in one of Gotham City’s most notorious prisons for the criminally insane.

The Joker 2 teaser arrives just in time to apply a band-aid to the gaping wound that is the cancellation of DC’s Batgirl movie, which is no longer getting a theatrical or streaming release. Stories about the reason for the film’s cancellation are still rampant online, ranging from the movie causing DCEU Multiverse problems to the studio recouping a hefty tax return if the project never sees the light of day. Either way, Joker: Folie À Deux will star Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, aka Joker.

Meanwhile, Joker: Folie À Deux refers to “a psychiatric syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief, and sometimes hallucinations, are transmitted from one individual to another.” The sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker is a musical that will blend the Gothic atmosphere of Gotham City with sensual song and dance from the project’s lead characters. This approach is risky, slightly confusing, and overwhelmingly intriguing. Fans of the original are already losing their minds at the thought of Joker soft-shoeing his way through the dim-lit halls of Arkham, but you know they’ll pay when the time comes to purchase a ticket to the big show.
