THE HANGOVER director Todd Phillips' JOKER starring Joaquin Phoenix has been a hit at the box-office these past few weeks – as if you didn't already know that. And – surprise – today we're hearing that JOKER 2 is in the early stages of development over at Warner Brothers, according to We Got This Covered.
Plot details are obviously scarce but RUMOR HAS IT, the film will take place several years later – and while the original focused on his descent into madness – JOKER 2 will focus on his rise as the Clown Prince of Crime, crossing paths with Batman villains such as Two-Face and the Penguin.
I guess we’ll have to wait for JOKER 3 for Bruce Wayne to become Batman.
I don't know how to take all of this news as I am the one guy out there that still haven't seen the flick yet (forgive me, I just had a little baby). But from what I'm hearing the movie is pretty damn stellar so it makes sense to me WB wants a sequel out ASAP.
The film was slapped with an R rating for "strong bloody violence, disturbing behavior, language, and brief sexual images." Are you planning to see JOKER (again) this weekend? Let us know below! Here's the official synopsis:
Failed comedian Arthur Fleck encounters violent thugs while wandering the streets of Gotham City dressed as a clown. Disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow dissent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.
Phoenix's co-stars in the film include Robert De Niro as a talk show host; Frances Conroy as Penny, the mother of Arthur Fleck, the man who becomes the Joker; Marc Maron as an agent; Brett Cullen as wealthy mayoral candidate Thomas Wayne, father of future Batman Bruce Wayne; and Zazie Beetz as a single mother who catches Arthur's attention.
