One of the biggest surprises this year is something rather special. This weekend, audiences can look forward to one of the most delightfully unique movies of 2018. ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE is a Christmas movie. It is also a zombie, horror, rom-com and a musical extravaganza. It is gory, hilarious and it offers up a killer soundtrack. Featuring a wonderfully charming cast including Ella Hunt, Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire, Christopher Leveaux, Ben Wiggins, Mari Siu, Paul Kaye, Mark Benton and Ella Jarvis, this holiday treat truly lives up to the hype. Director John McPhail and screenwriters Alan McDonald and Ryan McHenry have crafted a brilliantly clever and hilariously gruesome original feature. If you loved SHAUN OF THE DEAD, you will more than likely fall for this.
As much as I loved this flick, I’m even more excited for audiences to see how great a Christmas musical about a zombie apocalypse can be. And if you happen to be in the Los Angeles area this coming weekend, I’m thrilled to announce that I will be joining director McPhail and star Leveaux for three screenings this weekend at the Arclight in Hollywood. Afterwards, I will be moderating a Q & A with both John and Christopher to talk about the making of this ridiculously fun feature and the incredible story behind it.
Please join me on December 1st for either the 8:30 PM or the 9:30 PM screening, as well as a 5:00 PM screening on December 2nd. Directly after the movie we will be chatting with both John McPhail and Christopher Leveaux about bringing a Christmas zombie musical to life. Even if you aren’t in LA, I highly urge you to seek this one out. But if you can join in on the fun this weekend, you can get your tickets at the Arclight website here.
