John Wick’s Derek Kolstad to write and produce Splinter Cell animated series

Sharpen your knives, lace up your sneaking boots, and charge your night vision goggles because Netflix and Ubisoft are teaming up for an adult animated series adaptation of the video game Splinter Cell.

If that's not enough to get your blood pumping, what would you say if I told you that Derek Kolstad, best known for his work writing the John Wick film franchise, is set to write and executive produce the series? Ah, I've got your attention now, don't I? What's that? You want me to sweeten the pot? Well then, what would you say if I told you that, according to sources, the project has already received a two-season, 16-episode order?

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell first arrived on the video game scene in 2002, at which time the game quickly became a critical and commercial success. The game centers around former U.S. Navy Seal Sam Fisher after he is recruited by the NSA to work for the shadowy Third Echelon division within the agency. In time, six sequels to the original game have been released, making Splinter Cell on of Ubisoft's most celebrated and lucrative franchises to date.

Kolstad, who worked on all three John Wick films, recently unveiled his Quibi series DIE HART starring Kevin Hart and John Travolta. Kolstad co-created the series with Tripper Clancy, which features Hart playing a version of himself. For the series, Hart embarks on a death-defying quest to become an action star. Joining Hart and Travolta for the series are Nathalie Emmanuel, Jean Reno, Josh Hartnett, Brandon Quinn, Milana Vayntrub, and Jason Jones.
