As JOHN WICK was already packed to the rafters with head-bursting action, I can't imagine how the upcoming sequel will manage to top it let alone feature twice as much action. Chad Stahelski, who will be handling directing duties solo this time around, spoke with Entertainment Weekly to tease just how far JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO will pump up the action.
I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie, we took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.
In addition to quite a lot of Keanu Reeves style gunplay, we'll also learn much more about the world he inhabits, such as the Continental, the mysterious hotel run by Ian McShane's character which caters exclusively to assassins, organized crime members, and other members of the criminal underworld.
People kept asking us in the year after the movie came out, ‘We’d like to see more about the hotel, we’d like to see more about all the different characters.’ 'What is this underworld where everyone’s the best?’ What’s it like to be in a world like this? That’s what we really wanted to expand on. Me and the other creators on the show, my partner and the other producers, the biggest attraction to us about filmmaking really is creating a universe, and creating a world, and creating a little bit of escape. That’s really what we focused on and we’re hoping that’s what comes across in the second movie.
Aside from a simple yet completely bad-ass teaser poster which was released earlier today, we really haven't seen all that much from JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO just yet, but here's hoping that Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves will be able to knock this sequel out of the park.
JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO will hit theaters on February 10, 2017.
