You can count me among the people who wound up being very pleasantly surprised with how much fun JOHN WICK ended up being. The straightforward action/revenge flick featured a wonderful cast, including Keanu Reeves in his best role in years, and some very effective action punctuated by more head-shots than you can shake a dead puppy at. Naturally, a sequel was soon announced which will expand John Wick's world while giving us more of that excellent action.
We don't know all that much about where JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO will take the legendary hitman, but a new synopsis for the sequel has offered up a few fresh details.
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
The first film, in addition to the hard-hitting action, also managed to tease the interesting world of the assassins who populated The Continental Hotel, and it seems like the sequel will expand that world in some interesting ways. John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, Bridget Moynahan, and Ian McShane will all be returning for JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO where they'll be joined by Ruby Rose, Common, Peter Stormare, and Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King. Perhaps it's Fishburne's character who is the former associate who forces Wick back into the world.
JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO is set for a February 10, 2017 release.
