John Wick Chapter 4: Keanu Reeves brings the wall-to-wall action in the final trailer

Lionsgate continues their “Wick Week” celebration with an all-new John Wick: Chapter 4 trailer!

Ironically, “Wick Week” can also somewhat be applied to the timeframe of the narrative of this movie series, as each entry picks up right after the last. Chapter 4 may be a different beast as last we left John Wick, he had been seemingly betrayed by Winston and left to die after being shot off of the roof of The Continental. But you cannot simply kill Baba Yaga.

The first trailer showed us the initial set-up, with John being granted an audience with the High Table. In a definitive attempt to leave his hitman lifestyle behind, he must fight for his freedom against Marquis, played by Bill Skarsgård, and his horde of soldiers. This final trailer previews the sheer madness that ensues from this challenge, jamming with Nas’ “Got Urself a Gun” in the background. John globe-trots to Paris, Japan, Germany, and Jordan as he faces off against an army determined to end John’s suffering for good.

Keanu is joined by series familiars, which include Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick. The film adds an impressive list of newcomers which include Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, Mark Zaror, Rina Sawayama and Clancy Brown. Series director Chad Stahelski returns for this installment with a screenplay written by Shay Hatten, Michael Finch, and Derek Kolstad.

The John Wick series is a rare new property that started as a mid-budget actioner and gained a following after the success of the first, which brought the series to higher esteem with bigger budgets, exotic locations, and complex action set pieces. The franchise will be getting expansions with the spin-off, Ballerina, which will star Ana De Armas and take place in the John Wick-iverse (no? I’m still workshopping that one) in between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. In addition, there is a planned prequel series titled The Continental, which will tell the story of Winston, formally played by Ian McShane, and his origins with the hotel.
