John Lithgow joins the cast of Pitch Perfect 3

Production on the third installment of the PITCH PERFECT series kicked off earlier this month with just about every member of The Barden Bellas returning for more, and now it seems that they'll be joined by none other than the Trinity Killer himself.

Variety reports that John Lithgow has signed on to join the cast of PITCH PERFECT 3, and although I'm sure we'd love it if he were somehow a member of the Bellas, details on his character haven't yet been revealed. PITCH PERFECT 3 is being helmed by Trish Sie (STEP UP: ALL IN), who took over from Elizabeth Banks after she elected not to return to the director's chair. Banks will still make an appearance in the sequel however, as well as staying on-board as producer. This isn't the only sequel which John Lithgow is due to be a part of; along with Mel Gibson, he's being courted to appear in a sequel to Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's DADDY'S HOME.

PITCH PERFECT 3 is set for a December 22, 2017 release.
