John Krasinski may be a hot shot director now, what with A QUIET PLACE making oodles of cash, but audiences will always know him best as the lovable, quick-witted Jim Halpert on NBC’s THE OFFICE. The show ended in 2013 but people are already wondering if the show would come back for a reunion of some sort. Would the large cast be willing to return? In the case of Krasinski the answer is a definite “yes,” and all because, like us, he has questions that need answering.

The actor/director was speaking with Variety recently to promote his new JACK RYAN show on Amazon when he was asked about the possibility of doing an OFFICE reunion. He said he is very much down for something like that, and a big reason why is because he wonders what his character has been up to these last five years.
Where is Jim? What is he doing? I actually don’t know, and I’m really looking forward to it. People have asked if I would do sort of a reunion-type thing, and yes, for exactly that reason. I need the incredible writers of our show to tell me what he’s doing because I’m kinda worried about him.
The series ended with Jim’s wife Pam (Jenna Fischer) selling their house so they could move to Austin and let Jim work with the company he helped found – Athleap. But Krasinski thinks his story doesn’t end there, and that there are some goals Halpert still has left to fulfill.
[Jim] had a lot of hopes and dreams and all these different things. He had a lot of zany ideas. And then he went to Austin to live his life. I feel like the dreams are still in his head, so let’s see what he’s doing.
We’re in an era now of reboots and reunions, with networks reviving old shows to capitalize on nostalgia and give fans the reunions they’re begging for. Shows like WILL & GRACE and ROSEANNE have come back to huge success, while other shows like MURPHY BROWN are on their way back for new seasons after years off the air. Like THE OFFICE, fans have been asking for reunions of other NBC shows 30 ROCK and PARKS AND RECREATION, and it seems the network has been interested in reunions for these shows in the past.

It’s great that Krasinski is down for more OFFICE, but you need the whole cast come back if it’s going to work. That means Fischer (SPLITTING UP TOGETHER), Rainn Wilson (in this summer's THE MEG) and, most importantly, Steve Carell (WELCOME TO MARWEN), who famously left the show at the end of season seven to work on more movies (though he did come back for a cameo in the final season). Such a reunion would be magical, to say the least, so let us pray to all the gods for it to happen.
