I'll watch John Goodman in just about anything, the man is one heck of a fine actor and can really do it all. Comedy, drama, horror, sci-fi, you name it, John Goodman's done it. One of his more impressive roles of late was that of paranoid survivalist Howard Stambler in Dan Trachtenberg's 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, and it seems that he'll be taking a few of those survival lessons with him for his next movie.
John Goodman is set to star in CAPTIVE STATE, an upcoming sci-fi thriller directed by Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) which is "set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force." The film will explore the "lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents." The film recently wrapped production in Chicago and a first look photo has been released featuring John Goodman strapped into some sort of containment chamber.
We don't know too much about CAPTIVE STATE just yet, but I'm already on board based on John Goodman's involvement alone. The Rupert Wyatt film also stars Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Ashton Sanders (MOONLIGHT), Kevin Dunn (Veep) and Jonathan Majors (When We Rise).
CAPTIVE STATE is set for a August 17, 2018 release.
