Roseanne Barr may not be coming back for more episodes of her show, ROSEANNE, but the rest of the family is on the retitled THE CONNERS this fall on ABC. How the show will handle Roseanne’s absence has been a hot topic, but star John Goodman confirmed in a new interview that she will indeed be killed off, leaving the rest of the family to be the focus of the show.

Goodman was speaking with The Sunday Times about the new show and was asked how his character will be different now that his TV wife won't be around. “It’s an unknown,” he said. “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.”
The tenth season of ROSEANNE debuted last year to stellar reviews and even better ratings, bringing one of America’s most loved TV families back in a big way. However, the series was abruptly canceled after Barr sent out an offensive Tweet, writing, “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” referring Barack Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Within a few hours her show was axed, and later this summer it was announced the series would continue without her. The rest of cast is returning for CONNERS, including Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman, Sarah Gilbert and Lecy Goranson.
Goodman continued, saying he believes Barr is not really a racist, and that her firing resulted in him getting "very depressed" for about a month.
“I was broken-hearted, but I thought, ‘OK, it’s just show business, I’m going to let it go,' But I went through a period, about a month, where I was very depressed. I’m a depressive anyway, so any excuse that I can get to lower myself, I will. But that had a great deal to do with it, more than I wanted to admit.”
