Although the future of the existing DC Universe may be in flux, John Cena and Jason Momoa aren’t going anywhere. Variety has reported that the pair are attached to star in Killer Vacation, a “rowdy new action comedy” for Warner Bros.
Plot details about Killer Vacation are being kept under wraps at this time, but those familiar with the project told Variety that it compares to “fun, splashy adventures like True Lies.” John Cena and Jason Momoa met while on the set for Fast X, the upcoming Fast & Furious sequel, and were “looking to take their natural chemistry to another film.” Killer Vacation has been scripted by Mark and Brian Gunn, with John Rickard and Peter Safran producing.
John Cena will be reprising his role of Jakob Torreto for Fast X, who first appeared in F9. Jason Momoa will be taking on the role of the villain in the Fast & Furious sequel, and it seems that he had quite a lot of fun with the character. “I’ve never played a character that’s, what’s the word — he’s evil and quirky and androgynous,” Momoa explained this summer. “He’s very sadistic and fun. It’s very bizarre. I haven’t played a villain in a very long time.” The actor will also play Aquaman (possibly for the last time) in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will hit theaters on December 25, 2023. John Cena has several projects on his upcoming slate, including Warner Bros.’ Coyote vs Acme and Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle, a spy thriller starring Henry Cavill as a world-class spy suffering from amnesia. He’s also expected to return for the second season of Peacemaker, but that could very well be up in the air with the new changes at DC Films.
In addition to John Cena and Jason Momoa, Fast X will also feature Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang, along with Charlize Theron returning as Cipher and Scott Eastwood as Little Nobody. Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Brie Larson, and Rita Moreno will round out the cast. Fast X will hit theaters on May 19, 2023.
