Nice! It looks like Scream Factory will be bringing us a new Collector's Edition Blu-ray of John Carpenter's 1998 fang-baring, western-toned thriller JOHN CARPENTER’S VAMPIRES this September. Extras will be announced on a later date, but Scream Factory did confirm that they already have new interviews with Carpenter and producer Sandy King Carpenter.
On top of that, they let us know that this will be presented as a Collector’s Edition and will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release. The newly commissioned artwork pictured below comes to us from Devon Whitehead (Trick r Treat, Valentine, Sleepwalkers). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.
I don't know about you but this here John Carpenter fanboy will 100% be picking up a copy of this Scream Factory Collector's Edition Blu-ray once it hits shelves. But for those somehow unfamiliar with the motion picture, it's plot synopsis goes a little something like this:
Ever since his parents were murdered by vampires, Jack Crow (James Woods) has had one purpose in life: putting stakes through bloodsuckers' hearts. With his battle-hardened crew of vampire killers and the assistance of the Catholic Church, Crow roams the New Mexico desert looking for undead lairs to annihilate. But he meets his match when, at a roadside motel, he comes face to face with Jan Valek (Thomas Ian Griffith), a vampire kingpin possessed of incredible powers.
The film was directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay written by Don Jakoby based on the novel Vampire$ by John Steakley. Sandy King produced and the film starred James Woods, Sheryl Lee, Thomas Ian Griffith, Maximilian Schell, Tim Guinee, and Daniel Baldwin. JOHN CARPENTER’S VAMPIRES will be hitting Collector's Edition Blu-ray via Scream Factory on September 24th.
