Joel Edgerton’s new thriller It Comes at Night gets a super creepy poster

I'm a fan of Joel Edgerton ever since THE GIFT. I'm a BIG fan of minimalist posters and this new one for the upcoming Joel Edgerton flick IT COMES AT NIGHT is all kinds of creepy, "what are you doing, doggie, run" goodness. I'm loving the dimly, half-lit woods at night vibe. Mucho effective. I'm not as sold on the title, or the predominate dog-bootie on the poster…

The dog-bootie I can live with, as any dog-owner will tell you, you kinda have to. But the title is something else. I get it. No problem there. And far be it from me to hate on such a pun-inducing title. But that's their call. I'm sure they're hoping for a mature audience so the jokes will be few and far between. But, come on, you noticed it too. We all did. Gutter-minds, each and every one of us.

Anyhow, the poster is creep-tastic and I'm all in for checking out IT COMES AT NIGHT (gotta get used to this title) when it hits this August.

Here's the synopsis:

A man (Joel Edgerton) learns that the evil stalking his family home may be only a prelude to horrors that come from within.

Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order he has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge.

Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul.

IT COMES AT NIGHT is directed by Trey Edward Shults, co-stars Riley Keough, Carmen Ejogo, Christopher Abbot, and Kelvin Harrison Jr., and will be released on August 25th by A24.
