Stephen King’s DARK TOWER series gets a lot of cred, granted it deserves it, but what about his son Joe Hill? Those of you who are familiar with Hill’s work will recognize the name LOCKE & KEY. “Locke & Key revolves around three kids who end up watching over a secret, spooky New England mansion filled with mystical doors that transport them to different worlds and give them special powers.”
Got your attention? Good. Vulture recently recieved word that there is a certain filmmaker out there who’s had his eye on the graphic novel for some time. Steven Spielberg wants to team up with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (TRANSFORMERS, FRINGE) and writer/executive producer Josh Friedman (TERMINATORS: SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES) so that he can give Joe Hill’s LOCKE & KEY series a spot on the tube. Sounds like fun.
Originally there was the idea floating around somewhere on the net that Kurtzman and Orci were planning to adapt the comic into a feature film. That may be a different subject altogether but at least now we’ll get to see it sometime in the relative future. I’m stoked.
Even though many comic book adaptations have tried and failed, some more than others, I think this isn’t a project that you should be too worried about. For a story about ghosts, supernatural powers and screamin’-good mysteries, it’s in good hands. The team behind the series is a strong one at that but only the pilot episode will tell if it’s worth giving it the long term commitment or the hard goodbye. What say you guys? If you are a fan, will you give it a chance or is this a “no-watch”? If you’re still clueless, do you even give a damn? Strike back below and let us know!
Who wouldn’t mind playing a little LOCKE & KEY with Ashley Green.
