Do you remember hearing about FIVE AGAINST A BULLET? Bruce Willis was attached to star in the action thriller a couple of years ago, and while there's no word on if the actor is still interested in the project, THR has learned it does now have a director. NARC and SMOKIN' ACES director Joe Carnahan will be behind the camera for FIVE AGAINST A BULLET.
Alex Litvak (THE THREE MUSKETEERS, PREDATORS) wrote the original script for FIVE AGAINST A BULLET, however Joe Carnahan has also been hired to do a rewrite. The film will follow "a Mexican politician who, after his father is killed by a drug cartel, hires the five best bodyguards from around the world to protect him through a contentious election."
Joe Carnahan has certainly proved he's a solid action movie director, and I think FIVE AGAINST A BULLET has the potential to be a badass film, however a lot is going to depend on which actors they get to play the five bodyguards. Think Liam Neeson would be interested in teaming up with his THE A-TEAM and THE GREY director again for FIVE AGAINST A BULLET? And who else would you like to see star in Sony's planned film?
Joe Carnahan's STRETCH starring Patrick Wilson, Jessica Alba, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Ray Liotta, and Brooklyn Decker still doesn't have a release date after Universal dropped it from their release calendar earlier this year, and the studio is currently "exploring creative options" for releasing the action comedy-thriller.
