Last month, I took a little trip to Oshawa, Ontario, Canada to visit Parkwood Estate, a sprawling mansion that began construction in 1916 and was home to the McLaughlin Family for more than five decades before becoming a National Historic Site of Canada. But, I wasn't there for a tourist expedition. You see, Parkwood Estate is also home a healthy number of film and TV productions, ranging from Hannibal to BILLY MADISON to CHICAGO to the main purpose for my visit – X-MEN. Yes, Parkwood Estate is one of many homes used to personify Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters in the film universe of the X-Men.
During my time there I was able to explore the grounds, snap some pictures, shoot some video, and even talk to some of the cast from the film, including Lana Condor, who plays Jubilee, and Carolina Bartczak who plays Magneto's wife, Magda, in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Mixing in the '80's setting of the latest film, the mansion was decked out to recreate the rooms of the main characters, including Cyclops, Quicksilver, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Jean Grey, and Professor X. Like the estate itself, it was a trip back in time.
Check out the above video to get a more immersive look at the visit and see my interviews with Lana and Carolina below, as well as a host of pics from the mansion. You can order X-MEN: APOCALYPSE on blu-ray and DVD now!
