JoBlo.com will be closing down Movie Fan Central community

FINAL DAY IS TODAY!!!!Even though JoBlo.com’s 20th anniversary is coming up in a couple of months (wow, I can’t believe it’s been 2 friggin decades already!!), we are still very much an independent website with no corporate offices or ownership, which in this day and age, makes it pretty difficult to survive in this ultra-competitive online environment. We’re just a website owned by movie fans, made for movie fans and written up by true movie fans!

Thankfully our website is still going very strong, along with our JoBlo YouTube Network which recently surpassed the 2,500,000,000 views mark (that’s 2.5 BILLION!), but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have our own share of issues and streamlining to do. To that end, just as we shut down our JoBlo Discussion Forums a few months ago, we have to do the same to our MOVIE FAN CENTRAL website and community, whose doors we opened in September 2009. At the time, we were hoping to create a spot where like-minded movie fans can create their own accounts, and post their own reviews, DVD collections (remember DVDs?), top 10 lists, photos and videos…kinda like Facebook but specifically made for movie fans!

The site was solid throughout 2010-2011, with over 5,000 visitors/day but just like anything else on the Web, you can’t survive unless you’re growing and in the case of the MFC, we assume the prevalence of sites like Facebook and such, just made it more and more difficult to hang in there. MovieFanCentral.com was always a money-loser but the upkeep has become too much and considering that the site’s traffic has also waned tremendously in the past few years, it’s unfortunate but the time has come to close its doors and focus more on JoBlo.com and our YouTube network.

The final date of operation for www.moviefancentral.com will be February 21st, 2018 (less than 2 weeks). If you have an account and want to download/copy some of your stuff from your account, we highly advise you do so ASAP, because on February 22nd, all information will be removed/deleted from that website.
