J.K. Simmons & Betty Gilpin in talks to join Chris Pratt in Ghost Draft

I love J.K. Simmons. He's easily one of my favourite actors out there, and time and time again, he's proven himself to be quite formidable with his ability to steal scenes in every movie he's in. It seems that I may have a new J.K. Simmons film to look out for as THR has reported that the actor is in negotiations to join Chris Pratt in GHOST DRAFT.

The upcoming sci-fi thriller takes place in a future where humanity is losing a war against aliens. Aren't we always. In order to turn the tide, scientists begin drafting soldiers from the past in order to fight the war before all is lost. Chris Pratt (AVENGERS: ENDGAME) plays the leading role of a soldier drafted to fight in that future war, where the fate of humanity will rely on his ability to confront his past. J.K. Simmons (JUSTICE LEAGUE) is said to be playing the father to Chris Pratt's character. In addition to Simmons, Betty Gilpin (GLOW) is also in talks to join the cast of GHOST DRAFT, but details on her potential character haven't been revealed. Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid's Tale) is also set to star as a woman Pratt's character meets in the future who has a connection to his past. Chris McKay (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE) is helming the film and production is expected to kick off in September for a shoot which will include Atlanta and Iceland.

J.K. Simmons will next be seen starring along Chadwick Boseman (BLACK PANTHER) in 21 BRIDGES, a thriller which follows an expertly trained NYPD detective (Boseman) who is forced to put all of New York City on lockdown in order to defeat a duo of cop killers. 21 BRIDGES is slated to hit theaters on November 22, 2019. As for Betty Gilpin, she was slated to star in THE HUNT, but as we know, the studio elected to pull the film from its release schedule in response to the Dayton and El Paso mass shootings. However, producer Jason Blum did recently hint that it could still hit theaters at some point. Gilpin can currently be seen in Netflix's GLOW, and unless THE HUNT returns, will next be seen in GRUDGE on January 3, 2020.
