J.J. Abrams rebuilding Tatooine sets in Morocco for Star Wars: Episode VII

Rumors placed STAR WARS: EPISODE VII shooting in Morocco which many theorized may include a return to the Tunisian sets where George Lucas filmed the original trilogy and prequels. If new sources are to be believed, J.J. Abrams is planning a return to Tatooine, but not the original sets.

The Hollywood Reporter cites unconfirmed reports that the shooting set to take place in Morocco will also include extensive sets replicating the original Tatooine locations for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. Fans know that Tatooine is the homeworld of Luke Skywalker and his father Anakin before him. It is also the central world to the Skywalker saga and may be where we will find the aged Luke in the new film set 35 years after RETURN OF THE JEDI.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is already filming with shooting in Morocco set to take place next month. We still have zero confirmation as to who will be in the film outside of rumors that include Adam Driver, Peter Mayhew, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford. Hopefully official word comes down soon as I am really getting tired of not knowing what is coming our way.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
