It has been a few months since we've seen any movement on Jim Mickle's upcoming revenge thriller COLD IN JULY. The last we heard was that Dexter himself, Michael C. Hall would be leading the film. And now, according to Variety, the film has added Don Johnson, Vinessa Shaw and Sam Shepard (above) to the cast. Shepard and Johnson will play sidekicks to Michael C. Hall's character with Shaw starring as his wife.
To kill a man, even in self-defence, is no easy thing for a man with a conscience. He has to answer to himself, put the episode behind him, get on with his life. This is very difficult when the dead man's father, a murderous ex-con, is determined to avenge the shooting, no matter what the rights and wrongs. Richard Dane is a small businessman, a family man with a son of his own. Ben Russell, the ex-con, has a very simple proposition: an eye for an eye, a son for a son. But the truth is anything but simple, and before long Dane and Russell, misled and manipulated, are awkward allies in a living nightmare of paranoia and psychopathic sex, violence and corruption.
With Mickle's psychological thriller WE ARE WHAT WE ARE getting ready to serve up a nasty plate of horror on September 27th and some solid genre films already under his belt with MULBERRY STREET and STAKE LAND, I can't wait to see what he's got in store for horror fans with his upcoming thriller COLD IN JULY.
