Although his Oscar nomination for Juno was a bit much, there’s no doubt Jason Reitman is a hot commodity these days, after directing one of the most successful and buzzed about films of the decade on only his second go ‘round. So of course talk of his next project is likely to garner it’s own amount of buzz. And let said buzzing begin. Variety is reporting that Reitman is teaming with none other than Jim Carrey for the wonderfully titled comedy PIERRE PIERRE, for Fox Atomic (weird).
The film comes from a highly-touted script by Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton is about a “a self-indulgent French nihilist who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London.” In case you think Reitman has gone ditched his subtle roots and gone all big-budget on us, this one is only priced at $13 million. Now I wonder how that’s possible considering Carrey’s price tag alone. Is it not included? He can next be seen, or rather heard, in DR. SEUSS’ HORTON HEARS A WHO and then later this year in the comedy YES MAN. Reitman will be on board as a producer for Diablo Cody’s comedy horror JENNIFER’S BODY, potentially and hopefully starring Megan Fox.
