Jim Carrey is currently making the rounds promoting Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and the actor is expressing that he has a desire to seriously retire from the world of acting.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Carrey expressed that he feels like he’s “done enough” when it comes to acting. He was asked about recent comments by Dolly Parton in which the country superstar said she’d like him to play her former music partner Porter Wagoner in a Parton biopic. The mention caught him by surprise and that’s when he made the retirement statement. Carrey said, “Well, that’s a lovely thing but I’m retiring.” When asked if he was serious the actor elaborated by saying, “I’m being fairly serious, yeah. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road but I’m taking a break.”
While the retirement revelation might seem like a surprise, it shouldn’t be. Compared to his manic career in the 90s and 2000s, the actor has lived a relatively quiet life in recent years. He devotes much of his time to making art and painting these days and isn’t focused too much on performing:
“I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like, and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists, I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”
Jim Carrey has certainly given us enough over the years and if he wishes to retire, more power to him. Do YOU think Jim Carrey is done with acting?
