After taking some time off to work on some decidedly more adult affairs (like I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS), Jim Carrey is back to making movies the whole family can enjoy. This summer he stars in MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS, an adaptation of the classic children’s book directed by Mark Waters (MEAN GIRLS).
At first glance it looks a lot like LIAR, LIAR but with penguins and I suppose that could be a good thing since LIAR, LIAR was Carrey’s last really funny movie (the reaction at :57 is classic Carrey). But the Vanilla Ice dance at the end with the CGI penguins isn’t doing anything to help me want to like this movie. Will it be HOP or will it be a comedy that adults can enjoy too? What do you think?
