Here's a newsflash for you SAW fanatics: JIGSAW, the reboot of the Lionsgate series, will not be as vicious as the previous films. But it'll still be fun!
So says co-director Michael Spierig, who along with brother Peter helmed the eighth film in the franchise, which hits theaters this October:
We’ve got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don’t shy away from the gore. It’s such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It’s perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it’s still full of good fun gore, that’s for sure. And, on top of that, it’s got a really great mystery, and there’s very interesting twists. It’s Saw for 2017.”
Perhaps one of the "interesting twists" is what we see in the image above, which comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. That would be Laura Vandervoot in what looks to be a giant vat of quicksand or something of that nature. Seems like a lousy way to go, but if we know Jigsaw there's much more to it than that.
But is Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) actually going to be in the film? Peter Spierig isn't going to tell, naturally, but gives us a little morsel of info:
Bodies are turning up, and they’re linked to Jigsaw — or a Jigsaw copycat… The DNA of Tobin Bell is all over this film."
Make of that what you will!
JIGSAW opens on October 27th. Check out the first poster for the film below, which we debuted exclusively last week!
