While she's busy filming one of the most-anticipated sequels in recent horror film history with the making of director Andy Muschietti's IT: CHAPTER TWO, Golden Globe-winning actress Jessica Chastain is hard at work lining up projects for long after Pennywise the Dancing Clown is dead and gone. Yesterday, THR reported that Chastain's Freckle Films is joining forces with Voltage Pictures to produce EVE, an adrenaline-pumping action venture in which the actress will also star. Directing the upcoming film in addition to writing the script is FROM NOWHERE helmer Matthew Newton. Joining Chastain in her effort to produce the film are Freckle Films' Kelly Carmichael, Nicolas Chartier and Dominic Rustam.
No plot details about the film have been revealed at this time, though it's been said that the pic will be built as a character-driven thrill ride that will provide Chastain with the opportunity to stretch her action-oriented chops.
"Matthew is wonderfully adept at crafting complex and relatable characters. We've been fans of his work and are so thrilled to be partnering with him and Voltage on Eve,” Chastain and Carmichael said Wednesday in a joint statement.
"I have always admired Jessica Chastain’s work. So when I wrote Eve, an intelligent, strong, and incredibly capable character, she was my immediate first choice to bring her to life. I am humbled and thrilled to be collaborating with Jessica and Voltage on the film,” Newton said in a statement.
In looking over Chastain's professional dance card for the foreseeable future, I can see that the MOLLY'S GAME star has several films lined up that are just waiting to cut a rug. After starring as the adult Beverly Marsh in IT: CHAPTER TWO, Chastain will act as Tammy Wynette in director Taylor Hackford's GEORGE AND TAMMY. After that she's expected to star in Simon Kinberg's spy thriller 355, alongside such Hollywood badasses as Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Lupita Nyong'o and Bingbing Fan. As we continue down the line, Chastain is also scheduled to appear in David Leitch's THE DIVISION, an action film based ont he popular Ubisoft video game franchise. Also on deck for Chastain is a role in director James Kent's biographical drama SEDUCING INGRID BERGMAN. Last but certainly not least, this dynamic actress is appearing as Jane Vasko for the upcoming comic book adaptation of PAINKILLER JANE.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more details about EVE as they become available. In the meantime, IT: CHAPTER TWO will float into theaters on September 6, 2019.
