Not only has IT broken records stateside, but now it’s the biggest horror movie made around the globe (beating SIXTH SENSE’s $672 million haul). That’s pretty extraordinary and proves the movie tapped into something all different kinds of audiences could relate to and find horrifying. The sequel has a big mountain to climb, but one actress who seems ready to make the journey is actress Jessica Chastain, who fans hope will be cast as the adult version of one of the young characters, Beverly Marsh.
The actress sat down alongside Idris Elba for an interview with ScreenRant, and both were asked about the possibility of starring in IT: CHAPTER TWO as the older versions of Marsh and Mike Hanlon. Though Elba has yet to see IT, Chastain talked about how she has a close relationship with Andy and Barbara Muschietti (the director and producer of IT, respectively) given their work together on MAMA, going on to say that she’s ready to be a part of anything they have going on.
Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.
Filming has yet to begin on IT: CHAPTER TWO, nor has anyone been announced in terms of casting of adult versions of the younger cast, but the movie is already slated for a September release in 2019. Chastain has been a favorite choice to take on the role of Beverly Marsh for some time, with another name making the rounds being Amy Adams.
This is not a confirmation that Chastain or her reps have talked with the studio or the Muschietti's about being a part of the movie, but her quote indicates she's game to hop into the horror sequel. Chances are we will hear all the names of the adult cast in the coming months as pre-production gets underway., but I, like many of you, hope that Chastain's name will be among the first we hear as part of the official cast. She's already taken on a witch-demon thing in MAMA, so a clown should be a piece of cake.
IT: CHAPTER TWO is set for September 2019.
