Jessica Alba is set to headline and executive produce a new Netflix thriller series, Confessions on the 7:45, based on Lisa Unger’s international bestseller.
Per Deadline, Charise Castro Smith, co-writer and co-director of Disney’s Encanto, is attached to helm the project and she will also serve as showrunner. Smith will also executive produce with Alba and 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Olly Obst.
The psychological thriller follows a working mom (Jessica Alba) that meets a stranger on a train when she is commuting home. The encounter upends her life and as it all begins to unravel, betrayals are soon revealed which makes her begin to question who she can trust. Here is what Alba had to say about adapting the material:
“I could not put this book down. The moment I read the line, ‘If you want to keep a secret you must first hide it from yourself,’ I was hooked. This book is about trying to bury secrets and the shame we carry until the truth exposes us. I can’t think of a more exciting person to partner with on this project. Charise is so ridiculously talented and truly gets every nuance under the skin of these characters and their web of lies.”
This project is keeping Alba in the world of Netflix as she is also starring in and executive producing the upcoming action thriller Trigger Warning at the streamer. In Trigger Warning, Alba plays a traumatized veteran who inherits her grandfather’s bar and is faced with a moral dilemma after discovering the truth behind his untimely death.
