Jerry Bruckheimer wants Johnny Depp back for Pirates of the Caribbean

Jerry Bruckheimer is ready to work with his “friend” Johnny Depp once again, presumably for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Depp Pirates

Jerry Bruckheimer is more than willing to go back to the high seas with Johnny Depp, suggesting that another Pirates of the Caribbean movie could be on the horizon.

Depp has of course been in the spotlight for reasons outside of being a movie star, with a much-publicized defamation lawsuit with ex Amber Heard. While Depp did come out relatively unscathed, it has been unclear if he would ever step into the role of Captain Jack Sparrow for another Pirates of the Caribbean entry. However, Bruckheimer told Deadline’s Pete Hammond he would love to work with him again. At least, we hope it’s another Pirates movie and not a Lone Ranger sequel…

“Johnny is another friend and an amazing artist,” said Bruckheimer. “You go through things in life that you wish you hadn’t…He’s still a talented artist…He’s just so good at what he does and actors recover from things like this. He’s a good individual and he’s a caring individual. He’s somebody that you can rely on and he’s just terrific. I think Johnny is an utter friend and an amazing artist and, again, you go through things in life you wish you hadn’t, but he’s still a talented artist.” Bruckheimer has previously expressed interest in getting Depp back for another Pirates installment, although the script was taking “baby steps.”

In the same interview, Bruckheimer also spoke about another headline-grabbing superstar he has worked with many times before, Will Smith. And yes, he’s looking forward to having Will Smith as part of Bad Boys 4 (currently in pre-production), even after The Slap. “Will is a fantastic individual, he’s a talented artist, he’s a very caring individual. He’s a friend, I love working with them. That is not the Will I knew in that moment and I don’t think anybody has escaped life without doing something that they regretted…Obviously he regretted that moment…You can’t judge him on one small incident. Unfortunately, it was a big incident…” This is a reiteration of previous comments made from Bruckheimer about Smith’s future.

How do you think Depp and Smith will rebound from their recent issues? Would you like to see Johnny Depp return for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie? How about Will Smith for Bad Boys 4? Let us know below!
