Jeremy Strong has set up his next project and it has him teaming up with A War director and Borgen writer Tobias Lindholm on a 9/11 responders drama that Lindholm scored as a first-look deal with Chernobyl producer Sister as his first project.
The series, titled The Best of Us, will be written, directed, and executive produced by Lindholm and it will tell the story of the first responders on 9/11 while paying tribute to those impacted. Per “Deadline“, The goal is for the series to rely heavily on researched accounts. Lindholm signed on to develop and produce scripted series for Sister, the production company run by Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider, and Jane Featherstone.
Actor Jeremy Strong, currently riding high on the success of HBO’s Succession, has been developing the project with Lindholm from the very early stages. The project is also being developed closely with journalist Chris Smith, who has written a great deal about September 11 for publications such as “New York Magazine” and “Vanity Fair.” Sister’s Stacey Snider had this to say about the project:
“We are fortunate to have Jeremy as a partner with Tobias on The Best of Us, and we look forward to their thoughtful and human depiction of those heroes that serve on the frontlines for the greater good.”
The Best of Us dives more into the lives of the first responders rather than the event of September 11 itself. The series will explore the human fallout of the terrorist attacks with its rain of debris and toxic dust. Through various characters, the series will examine how they were affected and how we treated them by confronting a failing system.
