It’s been a hell of a year for actor Jeremy Renner. After polishing his star with multiple Marvel films, an outstanding Disney+ series (Hawkeye), and leading Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown drama series, Renner’s life took a turn when he nearly died after sustaining “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” while operating a Snowcat. After taking ample time to rest and recuperate from the life-threatening incident, Renner says he’s returning to work and is ready to shoot Mayor of Kingstown Season 3.
How do we know this? Renner shared an Instagram story from his Mayor of Kingstown co-star, Emma Laird, whose story featured a photo of her and Renner together, with the caption, “It’s happening! Back to work with my favourite guy next week.” Renner then shared Laird’s story to his account, seemingly confirming his return.
Renner spoke with CNN in October about his accident and how it affected his life.
“I just feel very blessed and very lucky to be upright and walk around and to live life,” he said. “I’m very, very clear. My life is really lean, if that makes sense. There’s no fat in my life anymore. I don’t have time for that. So there’s something really beautiful about having that superpower.”
Public records detailing Renner’s accident read: “The PistenBully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake. Although the PistenBully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the PistenBully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the PistenBully to avoid injury to [his nephew], he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”
The report also indicates the brake light might have malfunctioned, and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident.” Renner’s nephew was able to assist him before he was airlifted to the hospital, where he would receive surgery and spend time in the ICU. The report states, “The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road. He laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene.”
We wish Mr. Renner the best of luck while returning to work and look forward to seeing his performance in the upcoming season of Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown.
