Jensen Ackles has firmly secured his place in genre fandom for playing Dean Winchester on Supernatural for 15 seasons and he’s going to continue that trajectory playing Soldier Boy on the upcoming season of The Boys. He really doesn’t need to do much more to be loved by the fans but it looks like Jensen Ackles may have a DC Comics ace up his sleeve if he’s to be believed.
During a chat with Michael Rosenbaum on his Inside of You podcast, Ackles was asked which of the Marvel or DC projects he would love to be a part of. When responding to the question, he said that he’s potentially already working on one for DC. Given the fact that the new project is in the early stages, the actor didn’t want to get too far ahead of himself by revealing what the project actually is. Ackles said, “There is a DC property that I’m currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for. But, again, I’m not going to talk about it because [I] don’t want to jinx it.”
So what could the project be? Ackles has already had a DC relationship in the past. He appeared as Jason Teague in Smallville’s fourth season and he also provided the voice for the character of Jason Todd in the animated movie Batman: Under The Red Hood. The actor most recently took on voiceover work as the Dark Knight himself in Batman: The Long Halloween. We currently don’t know if this is a TV series, movie, live-action, or in the world of animation so all we can do is speculate, for now.
What super secret DC project do you think Jensen Ackles is working on? Do you think it could involve some supernatural elements, or is that too on the nose?
