Jennifer Lawrence says she auditioned for Twilight and was turned down immediately

Jennifer Lawrence once auditioned for Twilight but the future Hunger Games star reveals that she was turned down immediately.

Jennifer Lawrence, Twilight

Jennifer Lawrence starred as Katniss Everdeen in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games franchise, but in another world, could she have been Bella Swan in Twilight?

While speaking on The Rewatchables podcast, Jennifer Lawrence revealed that she auditioned for Twilight, but it didn’t go well. “I auditioned for Twilight,” Lawrence said. “They turned me down immediately. I didn’t even get a callback. But my life would’ve been totally different. I got Hunger Games I think, like, a year later. It was probably after Winter’s Bone.

After seeing the craziness that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart dealt with during the Twilight movies, Jennifer Lawrence had to think if this was something she really wanted. “When I was trying to talk to people about making this decision after [‘Hunger Games’] got offered to me, it was hard to explain to people… this level of fame,” Lawrence said. “I assumed it was going to be the ‘Twilight’ level of fame and that was never something I had in mind. I never wanted to be the most famous person on the planet. That’s a very different life than I pictured for me.” Lawrence said that she tried to “counteract the franchise-ness” of The Hunger Games by doing as many other movies as she could so that she was “not only known for this franchise.

Jennifer Lawrence was recently asked if she would be open to playing Katniss Everdeen again, and the actress was enthusiastic in her response. “Oh, my God, totally!” Lawrence said. “If Katniss ever could ever come back into my life, 100 percent.” As she looked off-camera, she added, “My producing partner just clutched her heart.” While Lawrence may not be back, Lionsgate is continuing the franchise with The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. The prequel takes place decades before the original movies and stars Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow, the future ruler of Panem.

Jennifer Lawrence can currently be seen starring in No Hard Feelings, a raunchy R-rated comedy with a little heart thrown in for good measure. You can check out a review of the film from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
