With THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2 wrapping up Jennifer Lawrence's first big franchise, the question is, what does she want to do next? Turns out that Lawrence has her heart set on appearing behind the camera rather than in front of it. Jennifer Lawrence revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she's wanted to direct just as long as she's wanted to act, but that she doesn't talk about it "because I'd rather just do it."
Lawrence is already heading in that direction as she has on signed on to direct PROJECT DELIRIUM, which Lawrence says is "based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.” The article in question was originally publushed in 2012 by The New Yorker under the title "Operation Delirium" and "focused on military doctors running experiments on soldiers throughout the Cold War."
It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that, if I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.
Directing PROJECT DELIRIUM won't be the first time Jennifer Lawrence has stepped behind the scenes recently, she's also writing a comedy with Amy Schumer which will have the pair playing sisters. Lawrence and Schumer recently completed a new draft and seemed very excited about it, calling it "dirty", "real", and "like us." THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY – PART 2, the final installment in THE HUNGER GAMES franchise, hit theaters on November 20, 2015. You can check out our own Chris Bumbray's review of the film right here.
