A few months ago, Jennifer Lawrence said X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will be her last time playing Mystique, but based on her comments during an interview with Yahoo! Movies alongside her co-stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, it seems the actress hasn't decided yet if it will actually be her final time playing the character.
Lawrence says she told Fox not to ask her about reprising the role, which led to Fassbender (jokingly) replying, "Because you want to have the option to turn them down?" The actress responded with "I kind of want to bait them with a text and then when they call me, I go, 'Don't call me!" and then hang up. I don't know – I love doing these movies," before explaining she will make the decision when the studio contacts her about playing Mystique again.
I want them to ask me, and then I’m just going to see how I feel in the moment when they ask. It might not make a lot of sense to a lot of people, but I feel like I’ll know when they ask. If I get a pit in my stomach and feel like I’m going to throw up, I’ll say no. And if I don’t, I’ll ask how much they want to pay me. I don't have everything nailed down like Fassbender!
While I'm more than OK with Lawrence returning as Mystique, I'm also fine with the upcoming film being her final turn as the mutant. Do you think will be getting at least one more X-Men flick after X-MEN: APOCALYPSE starring the actress as the shape-shifter?
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is set to open on May 27, 2016.
