Danger Girl, the '90s comic-book series created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell, will be heading to the big-screen and THR has reported that Jeff Wadlow has signed on to direct the action/adventure movie for Constantin Film.
A blend of Indiana Jones, James Bond, and Charlie's Angels, DANGER GIRL will follow the adventures of Abbey Chase, "an adventurer who was reluctantly recruited into a secret organization. Chase is then paired with operatives Sydney Savage and Natalia Kassle on a globe-trotting adventure to locate a series of mystical objects and keep them out of the hands of the evil Hammer Syndicate." Umair Aleem wrote the initial drafts of the DANGER GIRL script, but it seems that Jeff Wadlow will be doing the rewrites. Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film, Jeremy Bolt of JB Pictures, and Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe Films are producing the project. "Looking at Danger Girl’s lead character Abbey Chase and her posse of thrill-seeking femme fatales, female empowerment and wish fulfillment have never been more fun," Kulzer said. Bolt added, "Danger Girl is the perfect opportunity to create a team of grounded, relatable, and dangerous young female characters, but with humor and spectacular action," followed by Askarieh saying, "I have been a fan of Danger Girl for more than 20 years and the idea of being part of the team to finally bring Scott’s and Andy’s iconic creation to the screen is incredibly exciting."
Jeff Wadlow is best known for helming KICK-ASS 2 and TRUTH OR DARE, and he's currently in the midst of post-production on FANTASY ISLAND, Blumhouse Production's darker take on the '70s TV series of the same name. Michael Pena (ANT-MAN AND THE WASP) plays Mr. Roarke and the film is slated for a February 28, 2020 release.
