The casting process for his 2009 version of HALLOWEEN II led Rob Zombie to an actor with whom he would become a frequent collaborator, original Geico Caveman Jeff Daniel Phillips. The two hit it off so well that Zombie even gave Phillips a second part to play in HALLOWEEN II when Bill Moseley had to drop out of the role of horror host/comedian Uncle Seymour Coffins. Phillips has since appeared in the episode of CSI: MIAMI Zombie directed, THE LORDS OF SALEM, and now 31.
31 is about
Five random people are kidnapped on the five days leading up to Halloween and held hostage in a place called Murder World. While trapped inside this man-made Hell they must fight to survive playing the most violent game known to man… a game called 31.
31 has no rules. 31 has no boundaries. It is ever so simple. Do whatever you can do to kill your opponent before they kill you. Keep this up for 12 hours and freedom is yours. Who are the opponents? Well… a group of vile, filthy, blood-thirsty clowns known as THE HEADS. They come in all shapes and sizes and each grows nastier than the last.
In the film, Phillips plays Roscoe, "the ass-kicking carney mechanic of Venus Virgo’s traveling show", and those ass-kicking skills are going to come in handy, because he's apparently also one of the five people forced to play the game of 31. Zombie has posted a new picture of Phillips in 31 that can be seen below and shows Roscoe mid-game. The musician/filmmaker included the caption: "Here's a shot of Roscoe aka Jeff Daniel Phillips ready to take on the next maniac."
Rob Zombie just finished up a concert tour, so he'll be able to devote more time to getting 31 ready for release now. I'm glad for this, because I'm greatly anticipating this movie.
