You certainly don’t need to be “into cars” to enjoy last years thoroughly satisfying biographical flick with a revved up engine, FORD V FERRARI. The impressive feature directed by James Mangold and starring Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Jon Bernthal and Caitriona Balfe was one of the most critically acclaimed features of 2019, even earning a couple of Academy Awards. This true life tale tells the fascinating story of American car designer Carroll Shelby and driver Ken Miles as they bring a Ford to face off against one of the fastest cars on the planet, the Ferrari. It’s a cool feature, and the cars are really freaking amazing to watch rip up the race track on the big screen. And you know what’s even cooler? To be surrounded by some of the very same cars while at Carroll Shelby Enterprises, Inc in Gardena, California.
This past weekend, we had the amazing opportunity to get a hands on experience with some of the most exciting engines to ever grace the gravel and concrete they're speeding on. Fans and journalists alike joined in to celebrate the home video release of FORD V FERRARI, and it was incredibly thrilling for those with a love of cars. While there, we had a very special opportunity to have a group chat with one of the stunt drivers in the film, a fine fellow by the name of Jeff Bucknum – his father is racing legend Ronnie Bucknum. During the conversation, Jeff discussed his father’s legacy, working on the film, and even driving the very same car that Ronnie used to race. Having currently retired from racing, Jeff opened up about the car he drives and it’s certainly not what you’d expect.
Thanks to the fine folks at Universal Home Video and Think Jam for presenting this amazing experience for fans of the flick and car enthusiasts alike. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a flick that needs to be revisited! FORD V FERRARI is currently available on DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K and streaming – you can order it here – and just remember to drive safe after viewing… unless you happen to have the ability take on a vehicle like the legendary Ken Miles!
