Jeff Bridges is up for a sequel to The Big Lebowski

Given the choice, it seems that Hollywood would much prefer to milk some pre-existing IP rather than give us something new. That's not to say that some of these projects don't have merit, but as long as we keep throwing money at them we can pretty much guarantee that at some point in our lives something we love will be remixed, remade, reimagined, and regurgitated. Don't like it, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

THE BIG LEBOWSKI wasn't exactly the most popular film when it was released, but it has since gone on to amass a sizeable cult following and even has annual Lebowski Fests taking place all over the country. It's probably safe to say that if word of a remake or sequel to THE BIG LEBOWSKI got out, people might rebel, but apparently The Dude himself would be down for one. While speaking with Business Insider, Jeff Bridges even offered up his own idea of where the sequel could go.

I’m hoping they make a little Lebowski [sequel] because it’s all set up. I impregnated Maude [Julianne Moore]. As The Stranger [Sam Elliott] says, ‘There’s a little Lebowski on the way,’ you know?'

Are we ready for son of Lebowski? I can't think of too many times when pairing an iconic character up with their offspring in a sequel has really worked out. John Turturro, who played Jesus Quintana in THE BIG LEBOWSKI, has had his own idea for a spin-off featuring his character for many years. Jeff Bridges is aware of Turturro's plan and calls it a "great idea", even saying that it "might be fun playing a little cameo as The Dude" in the film. The chances of either of these projects happening is slim, but it's interesting to imagine a world in which we might see The Dude again, and then instantly regret it.

I may not be too keen on it, but what do you think of the idea of a BIG LEBOWSKI sequel?

One of my favourite examples of TV censorship.
