Toby (Chris Pine), a straight-living, divorced father trying to make a better life for his son and Tanner (Ben Foster), a short-tempered ex-con with a loose trigger finger, come together to rob branch after branch of the bank that is foreclosing on their family land. Vengeance seems to be theirs until they find themselves in the crosshairs of a relentless, foul-mouthed Texas Ranger (Jeff Bridges) looking for one last triumph on the eve of his retirement.
I'll watch any movie with Jeff Bridges upholding the law, as the man has the necessary grit to really sell it. A…true grit, one might say? Seriously though, HELL OR HIGH WATER's story doesn't look like anything groundbreaking, but the trio of actors assembled usually deliver. Throw in some genuine emotion and a gun battle or two, and you can sign me up!
HELL OR HIGH WATER will open in theaters on August 12, 2016.
