Jeff Bridges, cancer, update

Cancer is a son of a bitch; chances are good that you or someone in your family have battled the disease at some point, so it's always nice to see some good news on the cancer front. Jeff Bridges revealed last October that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma. "As the Dude would say… New sh– has come to light," Bridges wrote at the time. "I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery."

Well, Jeff Bridges posted an update on his website that indicates that his treatment is going very well and that his tumor has drastically shrunk.

I go in for a CAT scan to see if my new protocol is shrinking my tumor. Turns out it's working beautifully. The thing has drastically shrunk. I come home elated with the news.

Good news indeed, but Jeff Bridges' elation was dampened when he came home from his appointment. "I turn on the TV to find out what's going in the world and… well… I don't have to tell you what's goin' on," Bridges wrote. "To see our country attacking itself broke my heart." Bridges took solace in the mantra of his late mentor, artist Rozzell Sykes: "A question rose in me — What’s an individual to do in a situation like this? My mentor Rozzell Sykes came to mind. His manta (sic) was 'Be love'." Keep fighting the good fight, Mr. Bridges, and get well soon!
