Jeff Bridges’ cancer is now in remission

It’s probably safe to say that most of us could use a little good news, and we’ve got a bit of that coming from beloved actor Jeff Bridges today. The actor revealed last October that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma. “As the Dude would say… New sh– has come to light,” Bridges wrote at the time. “I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.” Flash forward to the present day, and Jeff Bridges’ cancer is now in remission!

The actor wrote a hand-written note on his personal website saying that his cancer is in remission and that the tumour, which was 9″ by 12″ at one point, has shrunk to the size of a marble. Way to go, Dude! Jeff Bridges also revealed that while undergoing chemo, both his wife and himself contracted COVID, which he said kicked his ass pretty good. Thankfully, he seems to be recovering well.

This brush with mortality has brought me a real gift. Life is brief [and] beautiful. Love is all around us, & available [at] all times. It’s a matter of opening ourselves to receive the gift. We, (I) often want some other gift that life isn’t giving us. I mean, who would want to get cancer & COVID? Well… it turns out I would. I would, because I get to learn more about love, [and] learn things that I never would have if I never got it.

Jeff Bridges added that thanks to his medical team, he’s nearly done with oxygen assistance and was able to not only walk his daughter Haley down the aisle for her wedding but was able to dance with her as well, all without assistance of any kind. Bridges is excited to return to work on his Hulu series, The Old Man, which is what he was in the middle of when he was first diagnosed with cancer. Bridges stars as a former intelligence officer living off the radar who finds himself targeted for assassination and forced back into the world he left behind. The series will debut in 2022.
