Six months ago, the collectibles makers at NECA started accepting pre-orders for an 8″ tall, clothed action figure of shark hunter Matt Hooper from Steven Spielberg’s Jaws (watch it HERE), featuring the licensed likeness of Richard Dreyfuss. That figure is currently out of stock on Amazon, but now NECA has unveiled another Matt Hooper figure. The first one was wearing his everyday clothes, but this new one is dressed in the diving gear Hooper wears for the famous shark cage sequence. Images of the figure can be seen below, and more can be found on the NECA website. This figure will be released in September.
Here’s the information on this figure:
8” Clothed Action Figure – Matt Hooper (Shark Cage)
Jaws is considered one of the greatest achievements in film, paving the way for what would become the summer blockbuster. NECA is excited to announce a new 8″ clothed figure featuring the licensed likeness of Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper from the 1975 classic.
Based on the shark cage scenes, standing at 8″ tall, the young oceanographer is equipped with screen-accurate accessories (flippers, spear, underwater light, knife, and oxygen tank) as well as swappable heads. Window box packaging.
NECA also released an 8″ tall, clothed action figure based on the Quint character, featuring the licensed likeness of actor Robert Shaw. As of this writing, there are still a couple of those available at THIS LINK.
Sadly, NECA will never be able to complete the trio of Jaws shark hunters and add Quint and Hooper’s cohort Chief of Police Martin Brody into the mix. There were plans for a Brody figure that would have featured the likeness of Roy Scheider, but those plans had to be scrapped due to rights issues.
While we’re still feeling sad that there won’t be a Brody, this Hooper looks pretty cool:
